By contrast, MFGE8 expression did not vary in an age-dependent manner in frontal lobe samples from a control cohort of 116 individuals between 15 and 95 years of age25 (Extended Data Fig. 8a and Supplementary Table 2), demonstrating that the increase in MFGE8 expression occurred as a result of Alzheimer’s disease-associated pathology rather than age. Here, MFGE8 is linked to Alzheimer disease.
