Following the World Health Organization's (WHO) reclassification of CNS tumors in 2021, a new diagnostic concept was adopted, combining tumor histology and molecular genetics, such as isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) mutations and 1P/19Q co-deletion states, TRET, Alpha Thalassemia/Mental Retardation Syndrome X-Linked (ATRX), and morphologic changes, to form a more accurate diagnosis [3]. The gene discussed is IDH1; the disease is neoplasm.
