RETN and metabolic syndrome: At the time of recruitment (Table 1), the group exposed to resistin Q5 had the highest proportion of women (63.3%) and the highest prevalence of smoking (33.5%); but it was the one with the youngest age (41 years), and lowest prevalence of: hypertension (28.6%), alcohol consumption (55.7% abstainers), physical activity (27.3 MET/day), dyslipidemia (28.5%), and serum HDL cholesterol concentration (50.4 mg/dL).
