BGN is a component of the ECM that helps to scaffold collagen fibrils and regulates cell signalling,38 and it simulates EMT in a variety of cancers,39 and it is regarded as a novel mesenchymal marker for the EMT,40 and it probably contributes to malignant cancer cells gaining migratory and invasive abilities,41 and it is regulated by the transforming growth factor‐beta signalling pathway, which is a key regulator of the EMT process.42 This evidence concerns the gene BGN and cancer.
