The metastasis-associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1 (MALAT1) was among the first human lncRNAs to be identified in cancer due to its high expression in metastatic lung cancer cells15. In addition, ASO-mediated knockdown of MALAT1 reduced cell proliferation, survival, migration, invasion as well as metastasis in immunocompromised mice16, highlighting its potential as a therapeutic target in cancer. The gene discussed is MALAT1; the disease is lung cancer.
