After molecular study of 613 patients with stage IV or recurrent non–small cell lung cancer, epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutation was detected in 39.5% of patients, however, only 51.2% received anti‐EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors as institutional treatment and 72 (0.6%) of them as first line. This evidence concerns the gene EGFR and lung cancer.
