In agreement with these in vitro data, we detected clinical HCMV strains in breast cancer biopsies mostly in luminal breast cancer, but also in some TNBC, with no increase of “oncogenic” markers such as Myc, EZH2, Akt, and Ki67Ag in tumor tissue [11], and should therefore be referred as LR-HCMV strains. This evidence concerns the gene AKT1 and breast carcinoma.
