Subsequent studies showed significant differences in the concentrations of various chemokines, including CCL2, CXCL5, CXCL10, CXCL11, CXCL12, CXCL13, macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF), IL-8, CCL7 in the CSF and CXCL10, CXCL13 and MIF in the serum of TBE patients, usually in comparison with patients diagnosed with other inflammatory CNS diseases [14,15,16,17,18]. The gene discussed is MIF; the disease is tick-borne encephalitis.
