Shortlisting of genes, such as C1qa, that establish the crosstalk between CR, anxiety, depression, and neurodegeneration is of high clinical importance in the following contexts: (1) biomarker discovery for anxiety as well as other disorders; (2) discovery of genomic variants in response to CR, especially those with risk of anxiety, depression and neurodegeneration; (3) drug discovery/repurposing that can simulate/mimic the beneficial effects of long-term CR by activation of the transcriptomic signature. This evidence concerns the gene C1QA and depressive symptom measurement.
