Of note, patients with SSc show both an augmented protein expression of cell-membrane-bound JAM-A and JAM-C, and a significant upregulation of ADAM-17 and ADAM-12 proteins [7,60,61], which, together, might partly explain the increased concentrations of sJAM-A and sJAM-C in the circulation of SSc patients. This evidence concerns the gene JAM3 and systemic sclerosis.
