CXCL8 and asthma: In the gut with dysbiosis, bacteria of the Bacteroidetes phyla are more present than Firmicutes phyla, resulting in a reduction of short-chain fatty acids (SCFA) production that may result in the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-6, IL-8 and TNF-α and reduction of Treg lymphocytes favouring the development of inflammatory disease such as asthma [191].
