Furthermore, the significantly smaller mean delta CRP measured in the hemoadsorption group in our study is in line with the findings of the reduced mean SOFA score, lactate level, and P(v–a)CO2 gap at the 72-h follow-up point compared to controls indicating the role of the inflammatory control provided by the continuous hemoadsorption in the early reversal of the refractory CS associated multiorgan dysfunction.
