The current study demonstrated three major findings: (a) the rs3811655 genotype was associated with cognitive performance in both schizophrenia patients and community controls, and the association between GG genotype and worsened cognition was only evident among schizophrenia patients or SZ males; (b) negative symptoms varied with rs3811655 genotypes, and patients carrying at least one G-allele showed more severe negative symptoms; (c) the transferrin rs3811655 polymorphism exerted a small but significant contribution to the psychopathology of psychiatric symptoms of schizophrenia. This evidence concerns the gene TF and schizophrenia.
