In B16F10 melanoma cells, the knockdown of LonP1 resulted in reduced tumor cell proliferation and metastasis and decreased levels of mitochondrial respiratory complexes I and III, with an overall downregulation of complex I. However, the overexpression of LonP1 resulted in enhanced tumor proliferation and metastasis and significant reductions in the levels of complexes I, II, and IV but upregulation of complex I structural proteins, such as NDUFB6, 8, 10, and 11 [38]. The gene discussed is LONP1; the disease is melanoma.
