PAR-1 is constitutively expressed in many cell types, including endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells, neurons, platelets, leukocytes, and trophoblast cells of the placenta [3,32,33,36,37,38] and PAR-1 activation can explain clinical and pathologic manifestations of preeclampsia as recently reviewed [1,3] (See Figure A2).
