Although leptin, IL-6, or TNF-α could promote EMT, as evident in the decreased expression of E-cadherin and elevated expression of N-cadherin, MMP-2, and Vimentin in 5-8F cells (Figure 3E–G), in contrast, cotreatment with adiponectin significantly neutralized these effects, further indicating that adiponectin can block proinflammatory cytokine-induced migration and invasion, possibly through reversing EMT processes in NPC cells.
