From the investigated biomarkers in Hentenaar et al. [21] (IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α, MCP-1/CCL2, MIP-1α/CCL3, IFN-γ, MMP-8, sRANKL, OPG and G-CSF), the authors indicated that non-surgical treatment of peri-implantitis did not have clear benefits in terms of reduction of inflammation (as expressed by the specific biomarkers) [21].
