Wang et al. [21] subsequently showed that the NUP98-NSD1 fusion protein induces AML in vivo, enforces myeloid cell stemness, and upregulates the expression of HoxA7 and HoxA9 by binding to adjacent genomic elements, maintaining H3K36 methylation and histone acetylation, and antagonizing EZH2-mediated repression of the Hox-A locus genes.
