The Akt/mTOR pathway is extensively involved in the fibrosis process in a variety of tissues; for example, it mediated lung fibroblast aerobic glycolysis and collagen synthesis in lipopolysaccharide-induced pulmonary fibrosis [45] and the inhibition of PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway-activated autophagy, and suppressed peritoneal fibrosis in the process of peritoneal dialysis [46].
