With oxidative stress being one of the leading causes of the process of degeneration and cell death in dopaminergic neurons during PD, as well as a precursor of α-syn misfolding and aggregation, the oxidoreductase-like activity of some nanozymes, especially peroxidase, catalase, and superoxide dismutase (SOD)-like activities, could represent a relief to this damage. This evidence concerns the gene SOD1 and Parkinson disease.
