In line with our data, as an upstream regulator of Gal-1 [49], miR-22 was shown to inhibit Gal-1 in hepatocellular carcinoma [22] and renal cell carcinoma where transfection with miR-22 mimics resulted in a dose-dependent decreases of Gal-1 expression [23]. This evidence concerns the gene LGALS1 and hepatocellular carcinoma.
