CYCS and glioblastoma: Previous studies have shown that the compound alantolactone, a plant-derived sesquiterpene lactone, activates apoptosis via ROS generation leading to the disruption of mitochondrial membrane potential, the release of apoptotic factor cytochrome c, the downregulation of antiapoptotic proteins, and the activation of apoptosis executioner caspase-3 in glioblastoma cells [73].
