Our findings follow on from recent studies that suggest that (i) the GABAARα1-TLR4 axis contributes to epilepsy–migraine comorbidity, (ii) TLR4 is a critical intermediate link in epilepsy–migraine comorbidity, and (iii) immune-induced neuroinflammation in microglia may be involved in epilepsy–migraine comorbidity. This evidence concerns the gene TLR4 and epilepsy.
