The present experiments first identified three FDA approved medicines, two antidepressants (amoxapine and maprotiline) and one antihistamine/anti-allergy drug (desloratadine), as potent blockers of ER stress-induced CHOP expression, and then as general modulators of all three UPR pathways and as effective neuroprotectants. The gene discussed is DDIT3; the disease is Allergy.
