Since mammography rarely identified cancers not visible on MRI in their study, and since our study shows MRI-detected DCIS seen more commonly in BRCA1 than BRCA2 patients, the omission of mammography in BRCA1 mutation carriers screened with MRI that was suggested in their study might be extrapolated to our study, although this comparison is limited since we did not include DCIS diagnosed with mammography. This evidence concerns the gene BRCA1 and ductal breast carcinoma in situ.
