A study conducted by Yu et al. investigated the cardio‐protective effects of carvacrol against myocardial ischemia in animals via multiple mechanisms such as reduction in the cardiac infarct size, lactate dehydrogenase, and cardiac troponin T, enhancement in enzymatic anti‐oxidant concentrations, reduction in malondialdehyde, inhibition of expression of caspase‐3, Bax, and increase in the level of Bcl‐2 protein (Yu et al., 2013). Here, BCL2 is linked to myocardial ischemia.
