SLC22A3 and psychiatric disorder: Remarkably, we found a significant enrichment of coding variants in control subjects with a 1.29 fold higher carrier frequency (2.76% in controls vs. 2.14% in cases, p = 0.0159, OR = 0.771; 95% CI [0.624-0.949], Fisher’s exact test, Supplementary Table 5), suggesting a potential protective effect of OCT3 coding variants against psychiatric disease.
