RELA and brain ischemia: The substitution of MS-275 with valproate (VPA), an antiepileptic/mood stabilizer endowed with inhibitory activity for class I and class IIa HDACs (Perucca, 2002; Gurvich et al., 2004), in association with resveratrol exerted synergistic neuroprotection in the OGD cellular model of brain ischemia, by correcting the pathological acetylation state of RelA and reverting the histone H3 deacetylation (Faggi et al., 2018).
