SOSTDC1 and neoplasm: In Wilms tumour, Sostdc1 has been identified as the likely tumour suppressor gene located in the chromosome 7p21 region that is lost following homozygous deletion, and the loss of Sostdc1 may augment signals in the Wnt pathway, which may be a prime candidate for 7p tumour suppressor genes, and may play an important role in Wilms tumourigenesis progression (Ohshima et al., 2009).
