Remarkably, genome-wide association studies (GWAS) involving persons with either computed tomography (CT)-detected valvular calcification or clinical aortic stenosis have enabled the discovery of unexpectedly associated genes like PALMD, NAV1, TEX41, CACN1C, and other important genes implicated in its pathophysiology, like LPA, ALPL, RUNX2, and IL6 (10–13). This evidence concerns the gene PALMD and aortic stenosis.
