Increasing evidence primarily from animal studies suggests that the NLRP3 signaling pathway may be part of the mechanism by which electroacupuncture can treat various diseases, such as inflammatory bowel disease (Zeng et al., 2018; Song et al., 2019), stroke (Deng et al., 2021), Alzheimer’s disease (He et al., 2020), ischemic heart disease (Zhang et al., 2020c), and inflammatory pain (Yu et al., 2020). Here, NLRP3 is linked to early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
