The main findings of this benzoate dose‐finding, randomized, double‐blind, placebo‐controlled trial for AD included: (i) 1000 mg of benzoate led to the best outcome, while 750 mg/day also generated similar efficacy to 1000 mg/day (Table 2); (ii) women performed better than men (Fig. 2, Table 4); (iii) higher CAT in plasma before treatment predicted better cognitive outcome after treatment (Table 4); and (iv) benzoate‐treated patients tended to have higher CAT and GSH than placebo‐receivers after treatment (Table 3). This evidence concerns the gene CAT and Alzheimer disease.
