In the DSS-induced colitis mouse model, lactate promoted the phenotypic transformation of macrophages in colonic tissue, reduced inflammation and organ damage, inhibited the activation of TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway, decreased the serum levels of pro-inflammatory factors, increased the expression of anti-inflammatory factors, promoted the repair of the intestinal mucosal barrier and reduced the severity of colitis. The gene discussed is TLR4; the disease is colitis.
