Despite the fact that these results indicate a net increase of CSF apoE in AD samples, when defining a quotient between the apoE monomeric glycoforms (ratio 36 kDa/34 kDa) we detected an imbalance in the AD samples, which displayed a decreased 36-kDa/34-kDa ratio compared with controls (p = 0.007; Fig. 4F). The gene discussed is APOE; the disease is Alzheimer disease.
