The HUSH-complex is a nuclear machinery consisting of the chromodomain-containing protein MPP8, TASOR (FAM208A) and PPHLN1 (Periphilin), and was originally thought to mediate gene silencing during viral infection by recruiting the SET Domain Bifurcated Histone Lysine Methyltransferase 1 (SETDB1) which methylates H3K935. Here, SETDB1 is linked to viral infectious disease.
