Disruption of the human NPAS3 gene by the reciprocal translocation at 14q13 has been first reported in a family with intellectual disability and schizotypal features (Kamnasaran et al., 2003; Pickard et al., 2005), indicating that disruption of the NPAS3 gene may contribute to the origin and development of psychiatric disorders. The gene discussed is NPAS3; the disease is psychiatric disorder.
