In conclusion, the present results suggest that hepatic fat accumulation per se does not predispose to hypercoagulability (e.g. high F8/PC ratio), whereas fibrosing NAFLD is associated with increased vWF and F8 (as detected by FIB-4), and reduced PC levels (FIB-4 and LSM), resulting in a procoagulant imbalance. The gene discussed is VWF; the disease is thrombophilia.
