GADD45A and brain ischemia: Chen et al. (1998) discovered meaningful increases in the expression of the Gadd45 mRNA and protein in the brain after transient global cerebral ischemia. Liu and coworkers showed that cerebellar fastigial nucleus stimulation induces Gadd45b expression in the cerebral cortex after cerebral ischemia. Over-activation of Gadd45b promotes functional recovery after focal cerebral ischemia, implying that Gadd45b may be related to motor function after cerebral ischemia (Liu et al., 2012).
