In a study of 315 women with diagnosed breast cancer and 356 control subjects, the risk of breast cancer was higher in persons carrying two copies of the ADH1C*1 allele, i.e. homozygous for ADH1C*1 than in those carrying only one or no copies of this allele, i.e. , heterozygous or homozygous for the ADH1C*2 allele. Here, ADH1C is linked to breast carcinoma.
