DLG5 belongs to the membrane-associated guanylate kinase (MAGUK) superfamily and is considered to play multiple roles in various cancers, including an ability to suppress breast cancer stem cell-like characteristics and restore tamoxifen sensitivity by inhibiting TAZ expression22 and to decrease the formation and function of invadopodia in human hepatocellular carcinoma via Girdin and Tks543.
