Although these small molecules are found to be effective against gliomas, because of the low expression of BCL2, low molecular affinity towards Bcl-2, gained resistance, and severe side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, and low white blood cell counts [12], there is still a need for a safe small molecule with a high affinity to Bcl-2 to effectively induce cell death in GBM. The gene discussed is BCL2; the disease is glioma.
