Together with neurophysiological and structural MRI data, few functional MRI studies on CBS showed an increased connectivity in cortical areas, including sensorimotor and executive-control network, and abnormal connectivity between frontal lobe and thalamus, probably related to the underlying tau burden (Spina et al. 2019; Upadhyay et al. 2017) without brainstem involvement, while it has been widely demonstrated the abnormal cortico-subcortical functional connectivity in PD patients, mainly involving basal ganglia and midbrain (Filippi et al. 2019). The gene discussed is MAPT; the disease is Parkinson disease.
