TRIM28 was previously shown to form a cancer-specific E3 ubiquitin ligase together with MAGE-A3/6 proteins (Pineda and Potts, 2015) for proteasomal degradation of AMPK, a master regulator of metabolic/energy homeostasis and mitochondrial biogenesis in cancer cells (Chaube and Bhat, 2016). The gene discussed is TRIM28; the disease is cancer.
