EPCAM and Menstrual disorder: EpCAM+ N-cadherin+, EpCAM+ SSEA-1+ and the very rare EpCAM+ N-cadherin+ SSEA-1+ epithelial cells have been detected and quantified in menstrual fluid (30, 31), indicating that small populations of these cells are shed during menstruation (see section Role of Stem/Progenitor Cells in Menstrual Disorders/Regeneration Disorders).
