In line with the in vitro results in the previous study, inhibition of cyclophilin A and FKBP12 reduced the extent of cardiac fibrosis by inhibition of calcineurin activation in load-induced cardiac hypertrophy rat model, providing further evidence for an important role of cyclophilin A and FKBP12 in inducing cardiac fibrosis through calcineurin pathway [84, 85].
