Glycolysis could be inhibited by p53-downregulated hexokinase 2 (HK2) in prostate cancer cells [15]; p53 induces the expression of E3 ubiquitin ligase Parkin to promote hypoxia inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) degradation through ubiquitination and subsequently inhibit the expression of glycolysis enzymes LDHA and GLUT1 in breast cancer MCF7 cells [16]. This evidence concerns the gene TP53 and prostate cancer.
