STING1 and cancer: As a cytosolic DNA sensor, cGAS links CIN to innate immunity by recognizing ruptured micronuclei and leads to the activation of STING and downstream NF-κB signaling, which suppresses cancer cell proliferation via producing IFNs, pro-inflammatory factors such as IL-6 and TNF-α, and chemokines, including CCL2, CCL5, and CXCL10 [82,83].
