Obesity induced by high-fat consumption in female Ossabaw mini-pigs has been associated with altered metabolic parameters such as hyperglycemia, hyperandorgemia, hypertension, insulin resistance and dyslipidemia, and impaired folliculogenesis due to a dysregulated production and release of LH, FSH, and progesterone [28,29]. The gene discussed is PLOD1; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
