The results of a systematic review meta-analysis focused on the relationship between prebiotic supplementation and anthropometric and biochemical parameters in NAFLD patients showed that fiber supplements can improve anthropometric, metabolic, and liver-related biomarkers such as body mass index (BMI), insulin, homeostasis model assessment for insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) [7]. This evidence concerns the gene GPT and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
