Purinergic receptors have been associated with HCV; thus, P2X4R regulates the secretion of micro-RNA containing exosomes by HCV-infected hepatocytes [18], and polymorphisms of genes encoding for inflammasome components, including AIM2, have been correlated to the development of C-hepatitis in Amazonia [19]. This evidence concerns the gene P2RX7 and hepatitis C virus infection.
